Sephora Denied Return Class Action Investigation

Abington Cole + Ellery is conducting an investigation regarding the business practices of Sephora -- specifically the process by which Sephora processes returns and exchanges of merchandise. Sephora uses a company called The Retail Equation ("TRE") to analyze and either accept or deny returns and exchanges. Consumers are reporting that valid returns and exchanges are being improperly denied by Sephora based upon TRE's guidance.

Sephora uses a form of TRE's "Verify Return Authorization System", which uses statistical modeling and analytics to detect "fraudulent and abusive" behavior when returns are processed at return counters of retailers utilizing the system. Consumers are complaining that Sephora and TRE's Verify Return Authorization System may be denying valid returns and/or exchanges in violation of Sephora's return and exchange policies.
