OPKO Data Security Incident Class Action Investigation

Abington Cole + Ellery is currently conducting a class action investigation regarding a confirmed data security incident affecting personal information entrusted to OPKO.

OPKO notified the US Securities and Exchange Commission on June 3, 2019, that it had been informed by American Medical Collection Agency (AMCA), a billing collections service provider, about unauthorized activity on AMCA’s web payment page that occurred between August 1, 2018, and March 30, 2019.

AMCA’s affected system included information regarding approximately 422,600 OPKO patients. It is believed information that was part of the incident includes: patient name, date of birth, address, phone, date of service, provider, and balance information. In addition, the affected AMCA system also included credit card information, bank account information and email addresses that were provided by the consumer to AMCA.
